In His Steps is a girl’s (1st-12th grade) performing arts ministry. Our purpose is to uplift these girls and strengthen and/or begin their walk with Christ. We share God’s love and teachings within the community through scheduled performances, productions and participation in dance competitions. (We have opportunities for both those who want to publicly perform/compete & those who do not).
We promote a positive self image (both inside & out) by including spiritual development in our sessions. In addition, we provide a safe place to learn, share and grow. While our main focus is dance, this ministry includes drama, musical theater and voice. ALL skill levels of the performing arts are encouraged & welcomed.
Donna Smith, founder of In His Steps, grew up in North Carolina. Donna is married to her husband Louis, has a daughter Jessica and a granddaughter London. Moving to Mooresville, North Carolina in 2001, Donna felt a genuine calling to offer assistance to those in need within our community. In 2003, she founded "The Ripple Effect, Inc." A service focused ministry, "The Ripple Effect" follows the teachings of Jesus in Matthew 7:12…"do unto others as you would have them do unto you". In addition to her desire to serve others, she has had a genuine love for dance and the performing arts her entire life. Donna has studied dance and performing arts for many years, participated in competitions and spent years researching various dance studios and ministries. She was determined to give girls a place to develop a true walk with Christ while enhancing their talents in a Jesus following environment. Donna has the compassion required and a unique ability to relate with girls and the issues they face. Relying on God and the love and support of her family and friends, in July 2007 The Ripple Effect was broadened and "In His Steps", a performing arts ministry for girls was born!
Brittany, a Mooresville, North Carolina native and 2004 Mooresville High School graduate, has danced for 12 years. She is in her third year of college studying business and plans to begin sonogram and ultrasound training in the near future. Brittany has studied and performed jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, pointe and modern dance. She has been selected for several troupes and competed in numerous competitions including “Showstoppers”. Included in Brittany's many dance accomplishments are several first place honors in competitions earning her an invitation to the orange bowl festival in Miami, Florida. Brittany has performed in 4 years of “the Nutcracker” and abbreviated versions of “Stomp” and “River Dance”. Brittany’s personal relationship with Christ and her genuine desire to help the development of teen girls through her own life lessons makes her a perfect match for “In His Steps."
